Puppy and Kitten Care

Bringing home a new kitten or puppy can be a very joyful time! However, in the excitement of bringing home a new pet, it's important not to overlook one of the most important steps in caring for your new kitten or puppy: introducing it to your local veterinarians.

Here at Town & Country Animal Hospital, we pride ourselves in being your one-stop shop for all your new pet's health and wellness needs now, and as they grow up!

Start With a Wellness Exam

kittens233.jpgWithin the first 8 weeks of bringing your new puppy or kitten home, we recommend that you schedule a routine wellness exam with our veterinary team. This is a great opportunity for you to acclimate your new pet with the vet's office, making them feel more comfortable during visits down the road.

With your pet's first visit, we'll also perform a comprehensive wellness exam, taking the time to ensure that your pet is in good health and that there are no potentially troubling signs of illness or disease. Even if your pet was recently brought in for an exam by its previous owners or an animal shelter, it's nice to get a clean bill of health after your puppy or kitten is brought home.

Routine Vaccinations and Immunizations

In addition to a wellness exam, your pet's first visit in our office is also a great opportunity for our team to come up with an immunization and vaccination schedule to keep your pet healthy and protected. Depending on the vaccinations your pet had before you brought it home, its age, and a number of other factors, we'll make a recommendation on which vaccinations should be done and how often for optimal protection.

We can perform any necessary vaccinations and immunizations right here in our office. Our skilled and compassionate team can administer everything from rabies vaccines to distemper and everything in between.

Health and Nutrition Recommendations

As your pet ages, surely you will have questions about different aspects of its health, development, and nutrition. This is where we step in; you can always feel comfortable asking us questions about anything from diet and nutrition to parasite control and anything else you can think of. By getting to know your pet from a young age, we will be better able to make recommendations for a long, happy, and healthy life.
