Ocala Pet Surgery Includes Orthopedics and Soft Tissue
At Town & Country Animal Hospital, we firmly believe that preventive care is the best approach to keeping pets healthy. However, sometimes pets need surgery to stay healthy or to correct a medical issue. That's when it's good to know that the same Ocala veterinarian you have trusted with the well-care appointments for your pet is also highly skilled in performing pet surgery. From routine surgical procedures, such as spaying and neutering, to more complex orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, our team of veterinary care professionals takes care of your pet with professionalism and compassion.
As part of the surgical process, our veterinarians first perform a thorough evaluation to determine the cause of your pet's pain or discomfort. Part of our diagnostic process often includes digital radiology, or x-rays, and ultrasound analysis. These painless procedures help make accurate determinations. In some cases we may need to use endoscopy to look inside your pet's body for problems that don't show up through radiology or ultrasound. Endoscopy is a gentle procedure where we insert a light source directly into an organ to obtain a better view. For certain breeds that are known to have hip and joint problems we will perform an orthopedic evaluation to assess your pet's bone structure and determine if there is a need for orthopedic surgery.
High-Tech Ocala Pet Surgery with Skilled Care
Should the orthopedic evaluation and other diagnostic tools reveal a need for surgery, we have an advanced surgical suite available that is designed to perform the procedure quickly and efficiently, while minimizing your pet's discomfort. For pets requiring surgery, a pre-surgical bloodwork panel is performed in the hospital to determine if the patient is a surgical candidate. We also require an IV catheter for surgical procedures as a safety precaution. Where possible we utilize minimally invasive laser surgery to reduce surgical complications and speed your pet's recovery. Laser surgery causes less bleeding and swelling (which minimizes discomfort) and is useful for such surgeries as spay and neuter or removal of cysts, warts and tumors.
In the surgical unit we use heated tables to keep your pet's body temperature at the appropriate degrees during the procedure. We have advanced anesthesia procedures to keep your pet safely anesthetized. Our professional team closely monitors your pet's oxygen, blood pressure and heart levels. After the procedure your pet can recover comfortably in our post-surgery recovery unit. When your pet is ready to go home, we will review your pet's postoperative care and medication instructions with you. If any medications are required for pain management we have a fully stocked pharmacy on site. If any questions arise after your pet returns home or at any other time during the postoperative period, call us immediately.
We work hard to make sure both you and your pet are comfortable during a surgical procedure.
